Support for Wing VO mobile
Monitor your own WING microphone channel, receive peak alerts and adjust channel volume from Apple Watch. The app is in development and being prepared for TestFlight.
A companion for your channel
Select one of WING’s 40 channels on iPhone. The app displays its fader, mute and signal level. The Watch has one volume control: turn Digital Crown or use the VoiceOver adjustable action in 1 dB steps. There are no settings or mute button on the Watch. This app supplements our other WING apps; it does not control input gain, routing or a separate monitor mix.
Connect to WING
- Connect iPhone or iPad and WING to the same local network. Avoid guest networks that isolate devices.
- Open Setup → Connect to WING. Select Find WING or enter the mixer’s IPv4 address.
- Select Connect and allow local network access when prompted.
- Select your microphone under Channel. Check its name and number before changing volume. Lock channel selection under Monitor prevents accidental channel changes.
Monitoring and alerts
Red peak warnings start at −3 dBFS; yellow warnings start at −12 dBFS. Choose haptics under Setup on iPhone and use the test buttons with the Watch app open. Short peaks are retained within each update interval. Alerts require fresh meter data and communication between iPhone and Watch.
Peak alerts stop when data is missing. Old levels are not presented as live readings. Volume changes require fresh channel state; delayed commands after a channel switch or connection loss are rejected. Sending a command does not guarantee the mixer received it: check the level reported back by WING.
Keep the app visible longer
Instructions and settings stay on iPhone so the Watch remains simple to use with VoiceOver.
- Keep the iPhone app open during monitoring. Keep iPhone screen awake under Setup prevents automatic screen sleep while a connection is started and the app is active. Locking the phone or switching apps pauses monitoring and Watch control.
- On Apple Watch: Settings → General → Return to Clock → Wing VO mobile → Custom → After 1 hour.
- Under Display & Brightness, enable Always On if supported. Under Wake Duration, select Wake for 70 Seconds. Low Power Mode disables Always On.
watchOS controls screen sleep, locking and return to the clock. An ordinary app cannot override these indefinitely. The one-hour setting keeps the app frontmost longer; it does not keep the screen bright for an hour. Peak alerts are not guaranteed once the Watch app is suspended or returns to the clock. Waking the app requests fresh state before enabling volume changes. See Apple’s Watch display instructions.
Mute and channel names on iPhone
Mute is controlled on iPhone. With Require confirmation before muting enabled, confirm within five seconds. Unmute is immediate. Channel changes and connection loss invalidate an old confirmation.
Connect to WING can import local channel names from a .wingvocontrol preset up to 5 MB. This does not change mixer level, mute or gain.
Troubleshooting
- If WING is not found, check its IP address, network and your device’s local network permission. Manual IP entry remains available.
- If the Watch shows Waiting for iPhone, open both apps and check the phone’s WING connection.
- No live meter means fresh measurements are missing; it does not necessarily mean the channel is silent.
- Test alerts, VoiceOver, screen locking and connection loss on your physical devices before production use.
